TeleVue Qwik Point
The compact, lightweight Qwik-Point is the ideal sighting companion for Ranger or any small scope! Qwik-Point uses the same optical principle as Starbeam and can be used for daytime spotting or nighttime star hopping. Night mode brightness is adjustable. It attaches very simply to the scope. Look through it and you will see a red dot. Line this up with the object you want to look at, and then look through the telescope. Couldn't be easier! A Universal model, with a Velcro strap is available for telescopes with a 4" or smaller tube diameter. Daytime only units are available without the electronics board. TeleVue Starbeam
The 'up market' version of the Qwik-Point for the bigger telescopes. It works on the same basis as the Qwik Point - and that's the same way as the head up display for fighter pilots works! Starbeam's unique flip mirror feature provides comfort and flexibility for viewing at any angle from straight through to 90°. Viewed straight through, you see the natural sky with a 10 arc-minute (1/3 Moon diameter) "red-star" showing your scope's position. When your scope is pointed high, flip the mirror into position for more comfortable viewing. Viewed this way, the sky orientation matches a refractor or SCT's image. The size, colour and adjustable brightness of the "red-star" makes it easy to see against any twilight to dark sky background. With its 39mm aperture, the projected image is easily seen any distance behind Starbeam, whether 2 inches or 2 feet! The finely made glass lens acts as a beamsplitter to combine the natural sky background with the superimposed red pointing "star." The first lens surface acts as a collimating mirror so the "red-star& stays stationary against the sky background regardless of how it is viewed. It's 6-arc-minute accuracy over any eye position allows you to pin-point objects -- even with high-power eyepieces in the telescope. A compensating curve is designed into the second lens surface to provide the normal sky background view and is multi-coated to eliminate double images. Tele Vue Starbeam is available for Tele Vue scopes as shown in the picture above (model SFT-1003) and is also available for Newtonians (SFU-1004) - below left - and SCTs (SFC-1009) - below right. ![]()
TeleVue Sol Searcher
Sol-Searcher is the safe and easy way to find the Sun. It is absolutely safe since you don't look through Sol-Searcher, you look at it.
The aperture acts as a "pinhole" which projects an image of the Sun on to the ¼ "translucent "screen." This screen
can be viewed from either side. Simply move your scope until the Sun's image is centered on the screen
and the Sun will be in the eyepiece's field of view.
The Sol-Searcher attaches to the mount ring slot of every Tele Vue telescope (or to the rear cell slot in the Tele Vue Ranger). For use with telescopes other than Tele Vue, mount the Sol-Searcher using #10-32 screws, or if necessary, attach with Velcro (not supplied).
