Tele Vue say "This scope represents our closest realisation yet of the "ideal" multi purpose photo/visual telescope". Then they go on to say... "Its snap-to-focus and extremely sharp, flat field are sure to take your breath away... no other design type affords the freedom to simultaneously correct for: coma, astigmatism, field curvature, secondary spectrum, spherical aberration, and spherochromatism to the degree we've achieved with with the TV-NP101."

The objective lens of the NP101 is of an SD air spaced doublet design where two lenses (crown and flint) are matched to work as one; the positive element is of a fluorocrown substitute with special dispersion glass and there is a matched doublet lens group at the rear. All eight air to glass surfaces have a multi-layer anti-reflection coatings (each one engineered to match the characteristics of each glass type and curve radii) and this improves overall light transmission across the visual wavelengths and from 400nm to well beyond 700nm. Consequently ghost images and flare are virtually eliminated and it improves colour rendition. The net result is an excellent increase in image contrast and light transmission, and the complete four lens system provides about 180 times the light gathering power of the unaided human eye.

The scope sits well on TeleVue's Gibraltar Mount, but for a stable motor driven mount that has computer control capability, the Losmandy GM8 is the perfect partner.

The TV-NP101 comes as an Ivory Tube with 2" focusser, 2" Everbrite star diagonal, 2" to 1¼" adaptor, ring mount and hard case, but no eyepieces are supplied.
